For «Requiem to Separation – 5 Aggregates of Grief» Soundartist Aio Frei held five one-to-one sessions with four close friends. The encounters were based on shared processes of grief and deep and trustful relation and friendship. The sessions were built on conversations, listening-exercises and tender forms of exchange and ended in attentive, empathic and careful recordings. All the involved went into different states and memories of personal grief and loss through the use of voice and familiar instruments. Later, the individual recordings were combined into a composition in 5 parts by Aio, and was enhanced with situational, poetic recollections of the individual sessions. The whole process happened in close consultation with all the the involved.
